Casino (Movie Review)

The opulent décor and attention to detail in casinos can create visually stunning and captivating environments that evoke feelings of luxury and grandeur. Guests may be entertained by world-renowned chefs and enjoy exquisite wines and exceptional service, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the experience. Often, casinos feature themed dining rooms that complement the atmosphere and offer unique menus for special occasions.

In a time when many people are concerned about mental health and well-being, it’s important to remember that casino games can be addictive and even harmful. Research shows that gambling can increase risk-taking behaviors, and that impulsive decisions made while intoxicated can have devastating consequences. Instead of hitting the slots or heading to your local gaming establishment, consider spending your leisure time pursuing healthier activities that truly nourish your mind, body, and soul.

Martin Scorsese dials up the mob life in Casino, with a back-and-forth narration dump from gambling king Sam “Ace” Rothstein (Robert De Niro) to his best friend and back home pal Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci). The two lead characters’ parallel paths, and the way the film builds up their relationship and eventual downfall, are the real draw. As much as I love Goodfellas, it’s hard not to think of Casino as the superior film. There’s so much more depth to Ace and Nicky’s story, and the way their ruthless gangster ways eat them alive. Plus, it’s just a fun movie to watch.
