Casino Review

A casino is a building or room where gambling games are played. Its purpose is to attract gamblers and provide them with a wide variety of game choices. It is also a social gathering place where people can relax and have fun. It is a business that operates with a profit margin that is designed to be positive. It is important to set win and loss limits to ensure that a player does not lose too much money.

Casino is the eighth collaboration between director Martin Scorsese and star Robert De Niro. It is based on Nicholas Pileggi’s nonfiction book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas. The film stars De Niro, Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci and Don Rickles. The story follows Sam “Ace” Rothstein (De Niro), a Jewish American gambling expert handicapper hired by the Chicago Outfit to run their casinos in Las Vegas. He is befriended by mobster Nicky Santoro (Pesci) and the streetwise chip hustler Ginger McKenna (Stone).

Like Goodfellas, Casino is a harsh and brutal portrayal of Sicilian mafia culture but it rises above anything petty and has a profound message for everyone. The movie teaches us that we can only be successful in life by taking risks but we must be careful not to bet more than we can afford to lose and to never let greed and lust overtake our lives. It is a lesson that should be taken to heart by all.
